I. Overview

Concrete batching plants are specialized equipment systems for centralized mixing and supply of concrete, widely used in various construction projects, road and bridge works. Ensuring safe, efficient, and stable concrete production is a core requirement for every construction project.

II. Operation Guidelines

Pre-operation Inspection: Check the operating status of all systems to ensure adequate supply of aggregates, cement, water, and admixtures. Verify that water pump priming is sufficient, pipelines are clear, gearbox oil levels are adequate, and lubricating oil pump levels are sufficient.

Standard Operation: Strictly follow operating procedures for startup, operation, and shutdown during production, with real-time monitoring of concrete mix proportions and mixing quality. Mixers should not be loaded beyond their rated capacities and should be operated at the speed and duration recommended by the manufacturer.

Time Control: Pouring must begin within 30 minutes after the truck mixer arrives on site. From plant discharge to completion of pouring, the time should not exceed 2 hours in summer or 3 hours in winter.

Quality Control: Use automatic metering systems to ensure weighing errors for sand, stone, cement, water, and admixtures are controlled within ±2%, ±3%, ±1%, and ±1% respectively. Mixing time should generally be no less than 90 seconds to ensure uniformity.

 

III. Construction Considerations

Site Requirements: The batching plant should be set up independently with good power supply, water supply, drainage, ventilation, and environmental protection measures. The material yard should be sufficiently large, with aggregates stored in separate areas and the site hardened.

Equipment Installation: The foundation for mixing equipment should be compacted and leveled, with mixers secured on stands or support legs—never using tires as support.

Summer Construction: Plan summer operations to avoid working during peak daytime heat. When conditions permit, set up shelters to prevent raw materials from direct sun exposure.

Winter Construction: Prepare trial mixes for winter concrete of various strengths in advance. Mix proportions should be determined through testing based on ambient temperature, raw materials, and curing methods during construction.

 

IV. Maintenance Tips 

Daily Maintenance: Clean the inside and outside of the mixing drum, discharge gate, and hopper of accumulated dust, and rinse with water. Apply lubricating oil (grease) to all lubrication points. In cold seasons, drain all water from the water supply system.

Weekly Inspection: Check conveyor belts for wear and damage. Inspect the tightening and wear of mixing drum blades and mixing arms. Check the oil-water separator in the pneumatic system. 

Monthly Inspection: Inspect liners, blades, and mixing arms for wear—replace promptly if severely worn. Check shaft end seals to ensure no slurry leakage or oil seepage.

Maintenance Safety: During plant maintenance, power must be completely cut off with a dedicated person monitoring the control room. Electrical faults should be handled by professional electricians—operators are strictly prohibited from performing electrical work themselves.


Shutdown Maintenance: When idle, drain and clean all materials from water tanks, admixture tanks, cement, sand, aggregate storage hoppers, and weighing hoppers.
